Keep heels fairly close together
helps maintain a symmetrical appearance. Wide upper torso, taper to waist, wider at quads, and taper again to lower legs
Angle toes outward
rotates the quads some and make the upper legs look larger due to displaying more hamstring while still displaying the quads
Bend legs at knee a little
displays a more natural appearance
Tense quads as if bearing down on the heels
helps show definition in the quads
Flare the lats
creates a more impressive v-taper to the waist
Do not overexaggerate arm placement
takes away from the appearance of the pose and makes it look unnatural. Arms will extend outward to the sides some due to flared lats, but they should not purposely be held further out than what the lats push them
Do not lean backwards
will change the angle the judges see your physique. Judges are usually seated below competitors. Angling back reduces the appearance of size
Keep arms to the sides
positioning arms in front of the torso appears unnatural and can narrow the appearance of the upper body's width
Expand the ribcage/chest as much as possible
helps make the upper body appear larger and fuller
Tense the arms
shows better definition in them
Don't be overly concerned with contracting the abs
bearing down on the abs too much results in losing some of the v-taper due to dropping the expanded chest. Tense abs, but don't bear down on them.
Keep head facing directly forward
looking down or tilting the head back takes away from the aesthetic appearance of the physique
Control breathing
avoids excessive movement in this ab area which takes away from effective presentation
Use hand positioning to compliment physique
long arms- close fists and curl wrists to make arms look shorter, or short arms- keep wrists straight to make arms appear longer to make the physique appear more symmetrical
